iOS Study Group (week 2 of 6)

The venue for this event has changed. We will be at Voxer, 760 Market St! We will not be meeting until 7pm!

Come and learn to make iOS apps in Objective-C! This will be a consecutive 6 week mini-class on making iOS apps. Dinner will be provided!

We will work as a group to make a very simple app, where you will learn not only Objective-C and iOS, but many important programming concepts. All levels of coders are welcome to attend.

This is week 2 and we will learn how to use Interface Builder, and how to communicate between a xib and a class

What to do beforehand?

  • You will need a Mac computer running OSX[masked] or later. Please install Xcode from the Mac App Store before you arrive! It is a very large program and will take some time to download.
  • Review Last Week's Lesson

As with all Women Who Code events, this event is open only to those who identify as a woman. Women Who Code is emphatically trans- and queer-friendly.

I'm "enrolled" but won't make tonight's meetup. :( I'll make all future meetings though. Will I stay "enrolled"? To catch up, do I go through the Github materials (https://github.com/iosstudygroup/week2-complete)? Thanks!

    I'm trying to RSVP too!

Can waitlisted be added automatically if more spots open? Tired of watching the page for three days.

A fundamental rule of programming is after you make changes, TEST TEST TEST! Did anyone do that after opening up the 6 spots?

    January 22, 2013

    • Michele T.

Meetup is not opening up the slots =( Working on it now

spots available but no RSVP button, where is it?

This is just amazing. I have watched this list for the whole day and was on waiting list. But when I looked at it again now. It is full again and I am still on waiting list. It is just a myth. Goodbye, I guess this group is not for me.

You can go to the group mailing list - you can see that it's possible for you to lead a separate study group. Would you be interested in doing that? http://groups.google....

      January 21, 2013

    • Joanne

I checked the google but did not find anything to start a separate group except write an email? I would lead a local group in Pennisula. Btw, if the series of events are reserved. Then just don't list here and give people any hope to sign up. That is a respect to everybody's time

Hi! I attended the first session (and had RSVP'ed) but didn't make it into the second session. Do you know why that might be the case?

    January 20, 2013

    • Michele T.

Hi Pearl, I do have you on the list from last week. Adding you now!

      January 21, 2013

      Thanks for the quick response!!

Will be around to answer questions.

I'm signed up for the first session but didn't see the second session open up and am waitlisted. Does this mean I may not be able to attend all six weeks? I'm a very new programmer so I don't think I can keep up if this is the case. Please let me know. Thanks! :)

    January 17, 2013

    • Michele T.

We will manually be managing the list of attendees for this meetup. So if you got in the first week, don't worry, you'll be in for all subsequent weeks. Sorry to anyone who got in the second week but not the first. You'll still have a chance of getting in if people don't show up the first week.
