Thank you to everyone who came out to our March 24th meetup. We did an intro to Ruby session along with some light coding in Codecademy. Those of you who attended - I hope you had fun and had lots of takeaways from the event. Those of you who could not attend - we hope to see you in the near future.
Our next Women Who Code TO meetup will be taking place on Wednesday, April 16th @ 6PM here on the 3rd floor at Bitmaker Labs at 220 King Street West.
We are going to be tackling the next Ruby section in Codecademy called "Control Flow In Ruby". Don't know what I'm talking about? Head to codecademy.com, create an account, then tap/ click on Learn in the top left hand side. From there tap/ click Ruby and you will see all of the Codecademy Ruby exercises.
What's happening? Here is the breakdown:
6 - 6:10PM - Recap of the last session + Intro To Ruby
6:10 - 6:35PM - What is "control flow"? What's an "if/ else/ case/ while statement"? What is a "conditional" and what does it mean in programming? What's a "loop"? What does "boolean expression" mean? What's an "array"?
6:30 - 7:20 - Coding through the "Control Flow In Ruby" section in Codecademy as a team.
7:20 - 7:30 - Wrap up of what we learned
7:30 - 8PM - Mingle, chat, code some more
Thanks and hope to see you on April 16th!
