Welcome! Introduce yourself to us:

Hello everyone. My name is Sheryl Rider. I live in Jamestown, NC and am the mother of four and grandmother of seven. By the way, for those who are also grandmothers, you already know this but for everyone else, can I just say that grandchildren are amazing. It's like getting to do it all over again without the hard parts. When not raising children and playing with grandchildren, my husband and I also have a small business where we work entirely too many hours!

Talk about writing a moment:

Writing has always been my secret pleasure. It has been a way to chronicle my past, gather my thoughts and express them in ways that I'm not quick-thinking enough to do verbally, and allow my imagination the freedom to create outside my own experience. It is sometimes my friend, sometimes my enemy, but always my constant companion.

What would you like to get out of this group?

Shared experiences with others who love to write, mutual support when the writing is hard, shared joy when it's not. To meet other women who love words on a page.

How did you find us?

I googled you!

Lord, I love a good story, always have. Reading them and writing them although I'm better at the first than the second. Mother of four, grandmother of seven, I've learned that you're never too old to do what you love. For me, that's writing.

What Sheryl R. is saying about this Meetup Group

What a wonderful creative nurturing group of women. It was lovely meeting you all. And boy can these women write! Already looking forward to the next meeting!
