Welcome! Introduce yourself to us:

Geezer, Air Force retiree, retired for many years on a beautiful island in the Pacific NW until I moved back here to help with family issues. I miss the PNW something awful, but I'm trying to write about it and other things I've done and places I've been.

Talk about writing a moment:

I'm always brimming with ideas (you wouldn't believe my files) but I used to have a lot of trouble getting any further with the storyline than a few sentences or paragraphs. Past classes have helped enormously, but this writers group has helped me break out of the fog. I am finally writing complete stories, tentative poems, and I have even outlined a novel about being a military woman officer in Thailand in the early '70s. I'm hoping for lots of progress in 2014.

What would you like to get out of this group?

The group dynamic has helped me overcome my block, or whatever it was, that was keeping me from developing my ideas into full stories.

How did you find us?

I'm a member of Meetup and had indicated an interest in writing. I received almost immediate notice when Melissa formed the group, so I am one of the founding members.

Not yet published and still disorganized--too many ideas but not as much follow through as I'd like. But thanks to this group's energy and encouragement, I'm finally producing readable material, which I believe will soon also be publishable.

What Portia M. is saying about this Meetup Group

I think it's a group whose time has come. We really need something like this and I'm very happy to be in on its founding.
