On January 21st, Women in Cambridge celebrates the New Year at the Cambridge Innovation Center (where else?). We will meet at the most talked about spot in town, the CIC’s Venture Cafe to hear from one of our favorite (and most innovative) Cambridge businesses–Web Start Women.
The CIC is a working environment that has become an international model for incubating innovation, start up’s and business collaboration. Boasting “more start ups than anywhere else on the planet,” CIC has been growing steadily beyond its original walls.
At the heart of the CIC experiment is Venture Cafe, a nonprofit, actual cafe-styled space where CIC members gather throughout the week to work. On Thursday evenings every week, Venture Cafe also becomes an event that brings together CIC members and an international crowd to encourage the sharing of ideas and resources. As guests of Revolution Capital, Women in Cambridge will take over the cafe on this Tuesday evening and open our discussion up to folks throughout the CIC.
We can’t think of a better featured business for the evening than the Women's Coding Collective. If you have not seen their MeetUp page yet, take a look. Started by Nicole Noll and Susan Buck to give women in web design and coding the chance to get together, WCC now provides a rotating series of classes for everything from “wrangling HTML” to creating an online portfolio for beginners. At only $20 to $25 for a class, WCC has become the favorite destination for women in and around Cambridge who want to tackle web projects of all sorts. And WCC’s free project nights are one of the city’s best kept secrets.
Join us on January 21st, and bring a friend, for an insider’s tour of the innovative heart of Cambridge.
