Confidence in Statistics

In this session, Francine Bennett will give a hands on overview of the process of answering questions from data.

We'll talk about some ways to tackle a fundamental statistical question: I see a difference in two sets of data. How can I test if it's meaningful?

We'll work with some real data in R (please download and install R and RStudio before the session), although you're welcome to follow along in another language of your choice. We'll cover statistical approaches including ANOVA, t-tests, and chi-squared tests.

Francine Bennett is a data scientist, and is the CEO and cofounder of Mastodon C. She spent a number of years before that working for search engines, helping them to turn data into money.

She likes coffee, running, sleeping as much as possible, and large datasets.

Apologies, I've come down with the flu so won't be able to make it tonight. If it's possible, it would be great to see some slides after the session.
