On International Women's Day, we're talking about fearless women. Dinner, a movie, and a panel discussion with Knox County Commissioner Amy Broyles and former Blount County Commissioner Wendy Pitts Reeves.
First, the Hilary Swank movie Iron-Jawed Angels, about the suffragists who dared to picket the White House for the right to vote, were arrested for “obstructing traffic,” went on a hunger strike while in jail, and were force fed by their jailers -- right here in America!
After the movie, Commissioners Broyles and Reeves will lead a discussion about what it is like for women to speak up and stand up in today's political environment.
What better time than International Woman's Day to be inspired about how you can speak up, stand up, and make change?
Note: Boxed dinner is ranch chicken wraps from Willow's Catering. Please contact Susanne Dupes ([masked]) if you have food allergies that should be accommodated.
