Hello! Two meetups down and I'm still rolling. I'm so glad I started a meetup because it gives me a chance to meet interesting people and build really fun rapports and hopefully some lasting poker buddies.
As I've mentioned previously I woul like to play some healthy competitive poker. Therefore I am changing the requirements so that this group will appeal to some more seasoned players who are ok with higher stakes. Higher stakes to me means a minimum buy-in of $20-$40 with 25-50 cent blinds, pot limit or no limit. (up to the group)
For those of you who want to participate here's what you should know:
What’s the skill level required for this group?
The expectation is that you will know how to play Texas Hold 'Em and understand the ranking of hands.
How many tables will there be?
We can run two tables if needed. Please note this will be a ring game...not a tournament.
What is the maximum number of people at one table?
I believe a 16 player maximum is the best way to go. No more than 8 to a table. Any more players at one table just gets to be a little too much.
What is the buy-in?
Buy-in of $20-$40 with 25-50 cent blinds, pot limit (Omaha) or no limit (Hold 'Em). The group concensus will decide if we play no-limit or pot limit in Hold 'Em. Omaha is generally played as a pot limit game.
Should I bring food or drinks?
Feel free to bring your favorite drink(s) and a snack.
Should I bring poker chips and cards?
If you have them it's not a bad idea to bring them. You never know if we'll need them or not.
What else should I bring?
A positive attitude, a flare for fun, and your willingness to play nice with others. :)
Is there a cost to join this group?
There is no cost, other than your buy-in. However, it does cost me $15/month to be the Organizer. Therefore, small donations to keep the group going are always welcome.
I hope this answers any questions. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions. I'm really looking forward to our third meetup! See you there!
