Women's Shamanic Wisdom Circle - Austin Pages

The Women's Shamanic Wisdom Circle was started in September 2008, and expanded to in April 2009. The circle's founders, Crescent and Toni, felt there was a need to provide the women members with a circle of our own - a place where women can truly listen to and support each other in our spiritual growth, and encourage each other to claim our personal power. Because shamanic work is by nature extremely healing work, we also recognized that many issues faced by our women members could be more easily - and perhaps more safely - discussed in a circle of other women.

So, our circle was born, with the mission to hold sacred space for each other as we journey to other worlds and explore magic and share wisdom. We recognize that women have always held powerful shamanic roles in their societies, roles which were generally unacknowledged by early European and American ethnographers (as recounted by Barbara Tedlock in her excellent book, The Woman In The Shaman's Body). As shamanic practice is being rediscovered worldwide today, we feel that it is important for women to recognize the key roles held by our foremothers as shamans, healers, midwives, wise women, priestesses and witches in cultures around the globe.

Our explorations together have been powerful and fascinating, covering such issues as shamanic use of star energy, shamanic dreaming, auras and energy strands, and the Descent of Inanna into the Underworld! In upcoming circles we will discuss past-life regression, weather shamanism, working with nature spirits, soul retrieval, and healing with crystals, to name just a few of our many planned topics. Our topic choices are guided by member interest, and we encourage each woman who would like to do so to lead a circle focusing on her own particular interest.

After our discussion session, we hold a shamanic drum journey, so that each member can meet and learn to work with her own spirit guides in order to explore the rich wisdom of the Otherworld. In our circles, we have experienced incredible power and healing together, and we have learned much by sharing our insights and wisdom with each other. All sharing is done with respect for each other, and without judgment.

We look forward to having other women join us for these fun and powerful explorations into Spirit!
