This is part of a new series of circles based on The Four Agreements, by don Miguel Ruiz, a deceptively simple but powerfully life-changing book. The series will continue for several months, but please feel free to attend even if you missed one of the earlier classes.
"Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love." ~ don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements
"During our early life we began making agreements. Our parents rewarded us when we did what they wanted and they punished us when we didn’t. We also learned behaviors and habits in school, church, and from other adults and children on the playground. The tools of reward and punishment were often emotional and sometimes physical. The impact of other people’s opinions and reactions to us became a very strong force in the habits we created. In this process we created agreements in our mind of who we should be, what we shouldn’t be, who we were, and who we were not." (from toltecspirit.com)
Traditional cultures have long understood that the spoken word is a form of magic, which can be used for good or ill. In our society, where we learn to curse and complain about ourselves and others, we have forgotten the hidden magical power in our words. Tonight, we will explore this first agreement that will help us break free from the domestication of our dominant culture and forge a new life more in keeping with our deepest and truest Self.
Come join us for an exploration of the ancient Toltec wisdom in this series based on The Four Agreements. A shamanic drum journey will follow the discussion to allow each woman to work on her own issues with her Spirit guides.
Please dress comfortably, and feel free to bring drums, rattles or other instruments, along with a journal for recording any insights received on your journey. Also feel free to bring an item to put on the altar during our circle.
Doors open at 7:00 pm and close at 7:30 pm, and ends at 10:00 pm. Please RSVP to ensure your space. Suggested donation of $10.00 per person to cover the space rental. Come join us for this powerful exploration!
We will be meeting in the Serena Room at Casa de Luz. Some backjacks, folding chairs, pillows and yoga blankets will be available. If possible, you might want to bring your own pillow or blanket to help make sure that you're comfy during the circle, especially if you plan to journey lying down on the floor. You might also want to bring a light wrap or sweater in case the AC is acting up! :) Several of us will be having dinner at 6 PM in Casa's restaurant, so feel free to join us for dinner before the circle! (Reminder: It is OK to park in the City lots across the street in spite of the "no parking" signs posted there. The City has an agreement with Casa, at least for now.)
