Women's Spiritual Book Meetup

The selection for July's book club meeting is Selu: Seeking the Corn-Mother's Wisdom by Marilou Awiakta. At this meeting, we will discuss the book's contents and what it means for us. Please, bring your questions, comments, and observances.

At this meetup we will also choose another book, and discuss locations for subsequent book club meetings. Feel free to bring book suggestions to the group. It is your unique input that makes this group great!

We have reserved the Cellar meeting room at Genuine Joe's Coffeehouse for this meeting. Please remember, when making your purchases, to tell the folks at the coffeehouse that you are with the book group so that we can keep from incurring costs for reserving the space.

What a lively discussion, ladies. Thank you so much for your insights!! I have already posted the poll of the various books we decided we want to discuss. Please stop by at your earliest convenience (in the polls section) and help us choose September's book. http://www.meetup.com/Womens-Shamanic-Wisdom-Circle-Austin/polls/868992/

Have you announced the book yet so we can work on purchasing?

    • Elizabeth

I had already voted for one of those two, so now I just wait. Patience. I will get good at it someday. Possibly even in this lifetime. :)

What a wonderful group we had to go over this book! I connected on many levels with what others said...now I just need to open my mouth and share more of my thoughts!

I love to hear your thoughts. Your unique perspective is part of your beauty. Definitely speak up, it is our honour to listen....

I had so much fun getting to visit with everyone! I loved the book, and very much enjoyed the discussions we had. And, as a perk, some of us had a lovely lunch at Star of India afterward. Can't wait until next month! :)

I'm laying back down for a nap (8:20 am). If I wake up in time, I will be there. If not, my body really needed the sleep.

Well, my car dealer doesn't have all the parts needed to fix my car - so looks like I can attend! Woohoo! (I feel like a flip-flop, lol...)

    July 19, 2013

  • Toni

Unfortunately, I'm probably not going to be able to make this after all - I have to take my car to the dealer again.

    • Morwen L.

So sorry to hear that. I hope that the vehicle issues are all resolved quickly and easily.

I may not be there after all so changing RSVP to no, just in case. If anyone has a hard copy of the book I could borrow, let me know. Thx!

Looking forward to the discussion. I love book groups a lot. Could it be possible to get the list of books previously discussed?

    July 13, 2013

This meeting will only be the second one. In the first meeting we discussed "The Candle and the Crossroads" by Orion Foxwood.

And it was a great book and a great discussion!

Not terribly interested in this book, so I will catch you ladies on another month!

Btw, is there a thread or a place that we can vote or put forth suggestions for upcoming books?

Hey ladies! I'll be attending this meeting so I would appreciate if you did not wear synthetic perfumes to the gathering. Essential oils are ok. Looking forward to sharing our ideas!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
