Inanna's Descent Labyrinth Walk

At this very special labyrinth walk, we will undergo a healing, initiatory ritual walk into the Underworld, the very core of our souls and the still centerpoint of Goddess / Spirit. This will be based on the Sumerian story of the Goddess Inanna's descent into the Underworld, the most ancient written myth known to scholars (approx. 6,000 years old). Walking a labyrinth in this manner is a powerful process of opening ourselves up, allowing us to release all that no longer serves our highest good, so that we can reclaim our power and healing.

For this gathering, please bring your journals, water bottles and a blanket or camp chair for sitting on the ground to process your journey after your walk.  We can go to La Madeleine on Brodie Lane for coffee and food afterwards.

Come join us for this special FREE event! Hope to see you there!

Aww...we missed you, Machelle! So sorry that you couldn't find us. For future reference, the church is directly across Hwy 290 W from ACC's Pinnacle Campus, just west of the "Y" in Oak Hill. We'll be doing quarterly regular labyrinth walks starting in January, and we'll do another Inanna's Descent walk next October.

Thank you Toni. I was so disappointed when I finally found you all - 45 minutes after the start time. I went home a bit limp. Happily, I have next year's Inanna Journey to look forward to…

Hi, I'm new to the group. Is there a recommended dress code for this event?

    October 15, 2013

    • Toni

Hi Jenn - No, just dress for comfort. I'll be in jeans. :)

Blessings, I'm new to this group- Can well-behaved children attend events (I'm a single mom and my kids were raised in ceremonial circles)? I put on an annual 72 hr Labyrinth Walk major event on the West Coast and it was a big part of mine and my son's life. We miss it since moving to Austin. Looking forward to meeting this group :)

Hi Lisa - Our circles are restricted to women past the age of puberty. Lots of reasons for this - shamanic work is powerful & intense healing work, much more than just ritual ceremony, and our mission for this circle is to give women a safe, sacred space in which to do their healing work. It is very contemplative, and unfortunately, we have found that even well-behaved young kids can disrupt the process. Also, this particular labyrinth walk is based on Inanna's Descent into the Underworld, and the 7 gates are designed with healing questions and challenges just for women, so we are not inviting men or children to this event. However, we do hold a number of family-friendly events throughout the year, such as our upcoming trips to the Austin Powwow, the Celtic Festival, and the Caverns of Sonora.

Oh no! I have to babysit my boyfriend's 4 year old until 3 that day! Would being there by 3:30 be out of the question?

    October 15, 2013

    • Toni

Staci - We are having a brief discussion about Inanna at the beginning, and then the walk takes place. Depending on how many women show up, it might still be going on at that point - but if we end up with a much smaller group, then it could be finished by then. Hard to say how it will play out.
