Tonight we will look at one of the traditional roles of the shaman: the Psychopomp (Greek for "Soul leader"). The Psychopomp aids the dying in making their transition to the afterlife, and also helps souls who are "stuck" in the astral level to move "into the Light." Psychopomp skills are often needed following disasters, or during such routine practices as house and land clearings. This is a valuable form of healing that is little understood in mainstream society.
In this circle, we will learn about the role of the Psychopomp, and then will hold a healing circle to conduct spirits of the dead into the afterlife. [Note: Although we always work in protected Sacred Space, it is highly recommended that only those women who are experienced journeyers with a good working relationship with their spirit guides attend this circle. Please email me if you're unsure about whether or not to attend, or if you have any questions. Toni]
Please dress comfortably, and feel free to bring drums, rattles or other instruments, along with a journal for recording any insights received on your journey. Also feel free to bring an item to put on the altar during our circle.
Doors open at 7:00 pm and close at 7:30 pm, and ends at 10:00 pm. Please RSVP to ensure your space. Suggested donation of $10.00 per person to cover the space rental. Come join us for this powerful exploration!
We will be meeting in the Serena Room at Casa de Luz. Some backjacks, folding chairs, pillows and yoga blankets will be available. If possible, you might want to bring your own pillow or blanket to help make sure that you're comfy during the circle, especially if you plan to journey lying down on the floor. You might also want to bring a light wrap or sweater in case the AC is acting up! :) Several of us will be having dinner at 6 PM in Casa's restaurant, so feel free to join us for dinner before the circle! [Reminder: It is OK to park in the City of Austin lots across from Casa despite the "No Parking" signs. Casa has an agreement with the City - at least for now - so you won't be towed.]
