Wheel of the Year: Yule

For thousands of years, our ancestors looked with a mixture of hope and anxiety to the rebirth of the sun at the winter solstice. Today, the long dark nights of the season are brightened by holiday lights and celebrations with friends and family - but on the flipside, seasonal depression, stress and commercialism ruin this time of year for many.

Today, we'll take a look at the origins of familiar Yule customs (most of which have been taken over by Christianity). Our magickal intention will focus on what we want to birth/bring to the light in the new year, and we'll also have a Yule-themed activity.

Please dress comfortably, and feel free to bring drums, rattles or other instruments, along with a journal for recording any insights received on your journey.

Doors open at 7:00 pm and close at 7:30 pm, and ends at 11:00 pm (ritual circles run a little longer than usual). Please RSVP to ensure your space. Suggested donation of $10.00 per person to cover the space rental. Come join us for this joyous celebration!

Hey ladies- I've sent the photos that came out to Toni to post when she gets a chance. Not all that I took came out-- there as a great one of Noelle and Purple Highness that was totally blurry due to photographer error (sorry!). Others hit the recycling bin due to closed eyes, awkward facial expressions, and in one case, someone leaning a little too far forward revealing more than she meant to! :)

Thanks for a wonderful evening (as much of it as I could last through!) that was meaningful for both my daughter and I.

Thank you so much for doing this, Elizabeth!! I'm tickled to have photos that are so much better than my usual cell phone pics. :) I'll get them posted here ASAP.

Delivering cupcakes but can't stay for circle, unfortunately. I have some family business to attend to. I miss you all so much! Hope to see you soon.

Donna, thank you so much for your blessing and kind words. Time is always our most precious resource and I regret how little time I've had to spend in circle with all of you this year. I feel very privileged to be of service to my community in this way and thankful that a little bit of my juju gets to enhance your celebrations!

Eleigh - As the others have said, these cupcakes were AMAZING!!! I hope that we will get to see more of you in the new year, but I thank you so much for your dedication to providing these incredible treats for our circle. They really are the highlight of our gathering. ♥

    I canceled because my car started acting up yesterday I was just gong to use gary's truck for work this up coming week but he decided to get me a rental car because paying for the rental while mine is in the shop was cheaper than putting gas in one of his huge trucks all week so I tried to reverse my cancellation. I intend to attend again - Life is giving me a buttocks loads of lemons this week but I am allergic to lemonade - I think I will just throw the lemons back -{groan}

Just a heads up, please be aware there will be another group finishing up around 7 or so in the garden studio. If you arrive early and they are still in there please make yourself at home in the main house and help yourself to tea.:)

Car pool anyone? Parking is tight at Soma Vida, I'm coming from Leander and can meet say at 183 and Anderson Mill at 6-6:15. Or
I can also drive a little out of the way if u need me to pick you up at your house which I would be happy to do. Let me know. :-)

    • Noelle

Hi! There is also plenty of free street parking all around and directly across the street near Hillside Farmacy.:)

Well, I have a mixed blessing. I have to miss tonight, and I was so looking forward to it, and to meeting all of you on this special night. But I have surprise out of town guests tonight, and will be enjoying their company. I will think of you all when I light my Yule log, though. Blessed be!

Elizabeth, I totally hear your request for subdued and only natural fragrances. It's wonderful that this is a group that can hear and respect your request and want you to be comfortable. Bless you and may you be well!!

    3 · December 19, 2013

    • Elizabeth

I do appreciate how accomodating the group is. I know that others in the group are also chemically sensitive, just not to the extent I am at the moment. Several others have let me know they appreciate me asking since it means they benefit from it as well! Being metaphysically sensitive often goes hand-in-hand with being sensitive in other ways, too.

I'm sorry some were ill or unable to make this meeting, but I am grateful that I get to go (was on the waitlist). I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, and especially on such a powerful night!

Hey ladies-- My daughter and I will be there tomorrow for as long as my body can last. If you could refrain from wearing synthetic perfume, fragrances, highly scented body products, etc., I would greatly appreciate it as my breathing has been rough at times lately post-pneumonia. I'm ok with essential oils in moderation. If you could also ask any guests if you are bringing them to do the same, I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Are we in the semi-circle room apart from the main building?

    December 16, 2013

    • Morwen L.

Yes, Elizabeth. It will be in the yoga studio that is not connected to the main building.

      December 17, 2013

    • Noelle

Hi! Actually just to clarify, we will be having both Voice of the Goddess tonight and Yule Circle Friday in the Garden Studio, which is essentially "in the garden", and not attached to the main building.:) (The studio called the "yoga studio" is the smaller room inside the main building.) Tea will be available in the kitchen or the lobby instead of inside the room with us in order to maximize the space.
