Austin Powwow

The 21st Annual Austin Powwow & American Indian Heritage Festival is being held at the Toney Burger Center in south Austin today from 10 AM - 10 PM. We'll meet for brunch at La Madeleine, 5493 Brodie Lane, and then go as a group to the powwow - we had a blast when we did this last year! Note: This will be a coed event, and it's OK to bring family members and friends. :) The dancing at the powwow is always so beautiful and inspiring, and there are many vendors selling Native American crafts, jewelry, food, etc. The event itself is free, but bring money for any food or souvenirs. Hope to see you there!

Lots of fun getting to hang out with my sisters at the Powwow. I stayed almost to the end, and saw some of the most incredible dancing that I've ever witnessed!

LOL - no problem, Barbara! I do the same thing sometimes. :D Don't know about teenagers, but there may be some. It's a wonderful family-oriented event though. \

One of the reasons I first joined this group is because some times I could see and hear native Americans - I never understood any of the languages but wanted to understand more of the activities. I understood I was seeing the memories of the land itself and thought this to be a wonderful thing. Some times others could hear the same things I did so it wasn't just me imagining and I was happy to share these things.

    - When I tried to investigate on-line I was treated badly by some claiming to be native Americans, Wanting nothing more to do with such a resentful people I made the experiences go away - closing the vortex so to speak - I have been unable to re-open it not that I have spent a huge amount of time trying , after-all the original experiences just happened. Maybe I acted hastily I am willing to try again to learn more about the heritage of native Americans, Perhaps a healing will take place and I will once again be able to experiences the memories of the Earth Mother .

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
