Let's do a harder Sunday morning run this week.
We will meet at 9:30am at the NE corner of 34th Avenue and 77th Street in Jackson Heights (by the Greenmarket) and head out for an 8ish mile loop to/around Juniper Valley Park, before heading back to our starting point. This run will feature a couple very long, challenging hills (on 69th Street). After the run, we will be conveniently located at a large Greenmarket (the largest/busiest in Queens) that should have plenty of fresh juice and fruit available. We may also seek some sort of brunch/beverage option if there is interest.
This is a more challenging run. Therefore, please ensure that you are prepared and able to complete a full 8 mile run before agreeing to participate. We won't set a minimum pace requirement for this run, but we will aim to progress at approximately a 10-10:30 min/mile overall (i.e., we'll likely be slower on the hills, but faster in other areas - it's balance we seek).
The weather will likely be a bit on the warm side, so you may wish to bring your fluids of choice with you - we will have access to water fountains at the start/finish and at Juniper Valley Park (around mile 4-5).
Our starting point is a couple blocks from the 7/E/F/R at Roosevelt Ave/Broadway/74th Street in addition to numerous buses. Car parking is challenging in the area. There is bicycle parking and a great bike lane on 34th Ave. Your organizer will be lightly running to the start from Woodside - please comment or message him directly if you would like to run this extra mile-ish.
