Second WordPress Amsterdam Meetup: Plugins, Plugins, Plugins.

Dear Pressies,

It has been a while since the first meetup. Since then this Meetup Group has been growing quite a bit and we congratulate Wordpress with its 10th Anniversary. It has grown into a versatile platform with a great number of capabilities.

Therefore we thought Plugins would be a great topic to cover since these form the Lego Blocks to enhance your website in no time.

Since we have not filled every bit of the Schedule we would like to see if there is somebody in the Group willing to stand up and give a short presentation about:

- The Use of Plugins in General

- Plugin Best Practices

- The Use of a Specific Plugin

- A Plugin that you have designed yourself.

Please let us know what you would like to share by sending it to

[ [masked]  //  [masked] ]

and we will try to make a schedule with varying topics.

See you all monday the 17th of June at Glimworm HQ (Thanks, Jonathan!). You're welcome for a drink at 19:00 and we'll be starting the first talk at 19:30 sharp.

Q: What plugin(s) are there for importing content, which is created and maintained out side WP?
Background: Creating technical articles in a XML format. Which would be nice to get posted on WP, so you have all the extra functionality (comments etc). These articles can get updated, because of newer version of the tools used in them. So from time to time a article can be republished. Previous and latest should be connected.

@ Theerd: yes, that's the one. For our themes we use the same importer to insert the initial content for our themes when users activate the themes; see my blog post

Very much enjoyed this meetup, especially the plugin suggestions at the end were really informative. Thank you so much to all the presenters for all your help!

    Great topic guys.
Has anyone successfully build a Premium (paid) plugin?
I'd be interested in getting in touch.

Hey Daniele, the meeting was yesterday and I don't think we met. I myself build premium (paid) WP themes for my living. Which is kind of equal to building premium (paid) plugins I guess. If you want to reach me, contact me @ [masked]

Hi Gert-Jan, I know I wasn't there as I'm currently in Italy for a visit. Added you on Twitter, an email is on the way!

I forgot to mention the "domain mapping" plugin, could someone add it to the list? You can use it to hook custom domains for each multi site instance. If you are interested to learn more about how to setup this plugin, see my blog @
