Monetizing your WordPress blog or website - beyond e-commerce and subscriptions

Over the last weekend in May, I attended and spoke at WordCamp Asheville. This recent WordCamp was a resounding success, with over 200 members attending the Friday Beginner's track and Saturday and Sunday beginner, designer and developer tracks.

One of my favorite presentations was on monetizing your WordPress blog by food blogger, Sommer Collier from, which inspired me to organize a meetup around this topic - how to monetize your blog.

There are many ways to monetize your blog. In May, Glenn Ansley from iThemes presented an e-commerce and subscription plugin from the development shop called iThemes Exchange. We've talked about Cart66 in the past. But, we have yet to talk about advertising, webinars, sponsorships and other opportunities.

Join us in this session, where we will touch on what Sommer is doing and walk through how to manage advertising on your WordPress powered blog or website. Of course, for EDU and Non-Profits, there are different strategies and we'll look at some of those as well, given that some of our members are from UNC and non-profit organizations.

I'd love to hear from some of you prior to the presentation to include any tips you might have that we can share during the meetup. Please let me know, so that I can include them in the presentation.

Lots of good information. But would have helped to have some definitions on some of the add related terms. Just to make sure there were no assumptions.

Sadly, I will be out of town until th 24th.
I had the good fortune of attending WordPress Camp in Asheville, and also of meeting Toni as well as attending his session. It was wonderful. Anyway, I hope to see you all in July. I am a total beginner to WordPress, and now I know everything I need to learn!:)
