Re: [WordPress-Chapel-Hill] Good meeting last night in Chapel Hill

Tony,

My thoughts about my potential topic were more centered on issues related to selection of themes, not hosting per se.  Like a brief mention of what one sacrifices in a theme selection by sticking with somewhat limited.com options in terms of design and functionality and why as a business person I would make those sacrifices. I didn't intend to get into a whole hoopdeedo about hosting!  And FYI, as a former college professor I am experienced at sticking to a topic and redirecting when needed.

Thanks, Cyndi.

Appreciate the note. Given that each presentation will only be 15 minutes to 30 minutes, as you can see, Q&A will always take up a portion of that. We can do both - .com themes and .org hosting, but from last night's take-a-way, I'd like to think that being specifically focused on one thing in the presentation so that every meetup is structured would be beneficial. Hosting itself is an hour long topic and maybe we should do something on hosting separately. What are your thoughts? Anyone else want to chime in?

Tony,

Thanks for the summary and links after last night's meeting.  I like your analogy about traveling to a different place and the value of being exposed to a different language and culture.  Sometimes WordPress does indeed feel like a foreign land!  But if you keep going there you always learn something new!  And I always meet interesting people at these events.

I would be happy to discuss .com themes at a future meeting.  I haven't checked the date for any potential conflicts but will do so. The linked site in my signature line below is only one of many WordPress themes I am actively using. I can discuss why I chose this particular theme and the others I am using, as well as the factors that go into my decisions about where to host my sites (I have some .org applications as well).

Thanks
Cyndi
