April - Show and Tell ( Questions and Answers )

I will be unavailable for our April meeting. Patrick has agreed to lead you'll for April. The planned agenda is a BOOM session, AKA get your questions answered. Both February and March's meetings are full of info and some of it might be technical in nature and worth reviewing. Use this time to ask questions about your specific site. I hope to come back and hear that lots of "BOOMS" happened.

Eric, as a heads up, I'd like a little information on sliders - the various types and how they can be used.

Mike. Sorry. I did not see this before the meeting. We use a slider plugin (paid) called solliloquy. Works the best for us. Basically sliders can have photos, some can have videos and some can link to posts and etc as well. What site are you working on and do you have a specific example?

I am just getting into sliders. I have two applications of a revolution slider on mikeworleybooks.com - on the base page and the 'free content' page. This slider came with the Alora theme from Theme4Press. On mikeworleyhistory.com, I am using a parallax slider which came with the evolve theme, also from Theme4Press.

My question revolved around learning the different types of sliders and how to access them. I downloaded the lite version of soliloquy and I'll give that a try. I don't really want to overload the site with sliders, but I can see some uses. In the book site, for example, I previously had a table showing four book covers. The user could click on a cover and be taken to the page for that book. But with the upcoming release of my fifth book, there wasn't room for that. The slider allows me to use the same idea, just with a rotating display of the covers.

I'll experiment a little with soliloquy and get back to you if I have questions.

      Thanks for the response.

And search marketing, SEO, and related questions are welcome as well.

Since Patrick will not be leading the discussion, I will. Going to bring a few hopefully cool plugins to show you as well as answer any questions.

Can't make it; have a schedule conflict. See you all next month.
