In April we're talking about Social! I'm oddly excited about this topic... you might find out why at the meetup.

What we usually do:

As always we'll aim to start at

6:30pm Welcome and Introductions

6:45pm Jetpack's social modules, MailChimp/Integration, dlvr.it and Klout

7:15pm Facebook plugin, creating a Facebook App ID, Google Authorship and IFTTT

8:00pm Open conversations and questions

There was some reference made about newsletter plugins besides mailchimp. can anyone remember which ones were mentioned? of what is your preference?

  I mentioned Jetpack subscriptions, Contact Form 7 and Gravity forms (with MailChimp integrations) for building the email list.
  
  From what I remember we talked about MailChimp and Aweber for newsletter distribution.

  Sadly wasn't there, but two other newsletter services are Aweber & Campaign Monitor. One benefit of Aweber over Mailchimp is that they don't have anything against affiliate marketing (whereas it's against MailChimp's terms of service). I went with Campaign Monitor for my list; can't remember why. I think I felt like the pricing model suited me.

  Yep. Take a look at this page for maps and stuff: http://www.nsi.tafens... You should be able to park for free in the TAFE (if there's a guard at the gate, just say you're coming in for the WordPress meeting). I usually just park on the highway out front, which technically is metered parking I think, but I've never paid and never been ticketed :O (when I first started parking there I didn't realise it was metered).

  The first presentation will be on:

Hi there. Just wanting to get a feel for whether or not I'm suited to the group and the level everyone is at. I recently started a wordpress blog, www.metricmarketing.com.au. Hosted with wordpress with custom design upgrade. I'm basically wanting to learn more about wordpress' capabilities and become more competent in my own CSS editing. I would like to also build up to the point where moving to a self hosted solution in order to add advertising and ecommerce is the appropriate course of action. How do you think I'll fit in?

  "similar pages mapped"? Sounds like they're separate sites and if you want to edit one you just edit it? You might need to be a bit more detailed in your question ;-)
