Backups for WordPress?

I've been doing WordPress for about four months and I was looking for the best way (and least expensive) to back up my sites.

I've checked out the WP plugins. Some were OK, but they didn't really cover everything.

I did find one that worked great and figured I could share it with the group, if anyone else needs it.

Check out Blogvault. It's a solid backup solution. I've been using it for about 2 months now. It has some cool features.

Blogvault completely backs up your entire site (DB and root folder) every night. You can also do test restores on their servers to check your restore.

Also, it is only $9 per month. For me, it was worth it to have peace of mind in case my site was hacked (or I did something stupid - LOL).

Please check it out for yourself, but I really like it.

I have a free Dropbox account set up (online storage - free account which starts at 2GB and can grow up to 8GB from referrals) and I use the WordPress Backup to Dropbox plugin (also free).

The plugin backs up both the database and the files and can be scheduled to run as often as you like. I love it because it's free and simple and quick to set up. I create a different folder on Dropbox for each site. It's also great if your web server goes down (or your hosting company goes, etc.) as the files are on a separate server. If you install the Dropbox app on your computer, the files will also automatically transfer from the online site to your computer when you next boot up.

Dropbox is online at If you want to sign up, please use this referral link as it gives us both (referrer and referee) an extra 250MB added to our accounts (means you start at 2.25GB):

This is cool, and free is always good! smile However, it also assumes that your WP site and plugins are working correctly, so your backup will be performed.

I've tried this type of backup before, but I wanted to eliminate an issue from my site not working correctly, so I chose an offsite service option.
