Automating Your WP Social Life

  • No location was chosen

  • This Meetup is currently on HOLD. The Hartford Public Library has been utterly resistant to us meeting there. The latest red tape was a 'rule' that we cannot use our own projection even in a study room.  I had been willing to pay the $25 per meeting - but they have blocked us out of more appropriate meeting rooms even requesting 3 months in advance.

Have any suggestions we could try as a meeting space?

Hi. I was planning to go but didn't realize it conflicts with the CTUXPA meeting. Bummer.

I've sent out inquiries to CCSU, MCC, & CCC. *Haven't asked at Axis901 or reSet because I didn't want to corner them for free space knowing that they do charge $20+/hr meeting room time.

Just updating info: MCC, CCC, CCSU all have fee-based conference rooms - the only free option at MCC is a study room that seats a max of 12, and requires two Manchester residents to reserve.

Windsor Locks Library is charging a $75 fee for of their 'community' room.. so that's a no-go as well

Hi Deb - I'll put in a call to their scheduler, what I've found though - in calling around is that when you're from outside of their district there are charges for using the community areas. (Which is why Windsor Locks library is an option for us. ) Its great that Avon also stays open until 8:30pm - so will see what they say :)

I work at Avon sometimes. They don't charge as far as I know ...

Avon library schedule is (wonderfully) open to the public - but unfortunately for us, meeting spaces already full: http://www.eventkeepe...

Try contacting either Axis901 or MCC on Main in Manchester.

Wondering if you could get space at the local community college? They are open late and I know that MxCC often hosts community events.

That is super sweet Kris - though I think for ongoing meetings its just too far out, even for me : / How do folks feel about meeting in Windsor Locks?? The library out here is very welcoming and free! :)

Exactly! This was the ongoing argument with the Hartford Library.. I paid the fee the first time back in October.. but then they didn't schedule us a room at all when i requested without Tech ($fee based) in Nov, the next time I opted out of their tech fee they relegated us to first come first serve study rooms (tiny)- for this month they didn't give us a room at all and when they heard I was bringing my own mini projector they brought down the mega-rolls of red tape. Talk about gentrifying - They enjoy the facade of providing outlets for the taxpaying community when they push to raise funds- but the reality is very handpicked and restrictive.

Talk to a city Council person. Larry or Ken. They are up for reelection this year.

Avon Public library has meeting rooms. Usage is free. They're always very accommodating.

Well I know this is WordPress Hartford but I'm sure I could get the Grove to let us do it there if you wanted to take it on the road to New Haven at some point.

(I don't know what happened but my comment became submitted there)

Go to the second entry (Css Added) then go to the bottom of that same page. you will see the link to the Notepad++ version. Same code, totally different result.

The only link at the bottom of either page is the Oppa Gingham Style video.

Yes, there were complications in all this and things have been changing. I discovered than when you move CSS from the code and place it into a child theme, you have to place #content in front of all, if not most, of the css definitions. When I did, then the residual changes were minimal to make it work. the web site is working as expected. Thanks for your efforts anyway.

** Library says their conference rooms are full, and still no change in that status - so we will be meeting in Study Room 8 if its available.. or one of the neighboring rooms if it is not. These are on the 2nd floor.

Since I cannot drive in Hartford at night, I cannot make it to this meeting however, maybe my WP question can be answered here. Go to SGA.ProfessorsPlace.Info/?page_id-705 and look at the format of the web page. Then go to the bottom of the page to see what it looks like when I use Notepad++/Browser. I used to have a very simple page (No real CSS, see SGA.ProfessorsPlace.Info/?page_id-3984). I have now redesigned the page, refined the CSS and have said CSS in Dashboard/Appearance/Editor.

    Something is not connecting. Thoughts?
