WordUp! October - BuddyPress with Tammie Lister

If you're into WordPress and near to Brighton, this'll be a great night. Tammie Lister from Automattic will be talking about BuddyPress.

BuddyPress is a plugin for WordPress that allows you to build a community. But, it’s a whole lot more. In this talk, you’ll get an insight into what BuddyPress is and what it can be used for. Along the way we’ll take a look at some cool sites and examples of how you can bring community aspects to your WordPress site. From building a community to creating a network - BuddyPress is your social toolbox for WordPress.

Hi all, wanted to join the group so that I can keep up to date with goings-on. I'd really like to help you further spread the word to the creative, digital, media & tech community in Brighton & wider Sussex and to our members. The Wired Sussex events calendar is a great resource for promoting local community events - each week an email goes out to over 1200 people with the next four week's worth of events, and I also share events in our calendar via our social media channels.

It's free & easy to post an event, and you can post up to 6 recurring events at 1 time. You can it via the Wired Sussex website here:

Give me a shout if you've got any questions :)

Thanks Laura, I've just submitted it. We used to get a few people finding us through the Wired Sussex events calendar. I didn't realise it was that simple to post an event. I'll make sure I do it in future.

Apologies, recovering from tooth extraction. Was going to ask about codex improvements and keeping template modifications up-to-date.

Hi Tom, Hope the tooth is ok. I asked your questions and to paraphrase, there's lots of improvements on the horizon for the codex, and for template modifications you need to check the release notes. I bet there's something clever you could do with source control comparisons and checking for changes
