Some people criticize WordPress because they don’t see access control settings in the dashboard like Drupal and Joomla offer. What they don’t realize is that WordPress does have access controls built into its core, but they must be accessed by code.
Advanced Access Manager is a powerful plugin that gives you a visual interface to these access controls, and allows fine-grained control over what users or groups of users can see on your WordPress site.
With Advanced Access Manager, it becomes much easier to build a site for a multiple department organization or multi-person office and control what certain individuals or groups of people can see.
AAM will allow you to to create and edit user roles and capabilities and change how WordPress displays information to them. On the back end, it will filter dashboard menus, panels, widgets, metaboxes, pages and posts. On the front end, it can exclude pages and posts from navigation.
The basic version of this plugin is free and available from the WordPress plugin repository.
