Best Business Practices

In order to try to provide something for everyone this month, the meetup will have 2 portions. The first part from 6:30-7:15 will be an open talk and question time for beginners or anyone with site issues to ask the group or an individual for help. Then by 7:30pm we will move into a discussion around best business practices for folks who sell WordPress services for a living. Do you do quotes? If so, what do those look like? Do you have a signed agreement, and, if so, what does that look like? How do you manage your time on projects and avoid the dreaded scope creep? It would be great if folks who do have documents, bring some to share amongst the group. Obviously, please remove all client and price details, but seeing actual documents can help. If they are on a memory stick or emailed to me beforehand ([masked]), we can display them easily so the group can read.

WordPress users and developers of all levels are welcome at our meetups. Sometimes our topics are focused on the the back-end coding and development of sites from scratch, and other times on more front-end user or administrator experience, plugins/tools, themes, site maintenance, SEO, etc. You will find a casual and friendly bunch of folks at our meetups and time is available for networking and shout-outs.

f you are interested in giving a 10-15 minute lightning talk about something, please let me know ([masked]). These talks can be about anything WordPress/web related (social media, SEO, useful plugins/themes, business practices, code practices or tools, etc.).

One more's the WordPress host review I mentioned: (Bluehost gets only 2 starts on speed whereas the others all got 4.5/5.

By the way, here is the link to this year's "State of the Word" talk by Matt Mullenweg. It's 54 min, but very interesting as he talks about the spread of WordPress and results from the yearly survey. Interesting to note that WordPress is now running 18.9% of the web (up from 16.7% last year).

Welcome to the group! WordPress is a great platform for publishing. We have some time set aside at the beginning of our meetup for beginner questions or site issues. This group isn't a training group, per se, but we do have some knowledgeable folks and hopefully we can help you out some.
