  • May 18, 2010 · 6:30 PM

WordPress 3.0 is going to be big! With it's release later this month, WP3 will include some powerful new features. At this month's WordPressNYC Meetup we'll go through WP3, and what you need to do to take advantage of these enhancements for your website. Some highlights: -An in-depth look at a Multisite setup -Setting up custom Post Types, and why you need them. -Managing your menu the easy way. and a whole lot more...
To see the full list of changes coming in WP3, visit this link. We'll try to answer as many of your questions as possible. AFTER MEETUP - FOR BEGINNERS As always, after our presentation, beginners are welcome to stick around and ask any question they like.
Your Speakers: STEVE BRUNER Steve Bruner is the CEO of SlipFire LLC, a New York City based WordPress development studio. I have 30 of my own WP (client) sites and I help manage 40 for a co-worker... I got some really great stuff in this meeting that will change the way I do business actually. I hope we don't overgrow the beautiful facility but with more meetings like this packed with bleeding edge stuff for WP developers I'll bet this group expands. Thanks Steve and Boone!

I think there could have been more organization of the questions part. It started to unravel when people starting asking questions out of turn and I think were further encouraged to keep interrupting when all of said questions were answered.

I appreciated learning about MultiSite, as I have several blogs and have been concerned about using up shared hosting resources, or at the very least my allocation of MySql databases. Although I'm not a PHP developer, I was intrigued by the new offerings in WP 3.0. I'll definitely enjoy the new drag-and-drop menu interface, but I'm not sure how I'd take advantage of the custom post types.

This was my second WP meetup, and I enjoyed and gained valuable info from both. Also want to thank Sun/Oracle for providing us with such a great space...

Good job tonight explaining Custom Posts and Wordpress Multi Site. I came a little late, so I wasn't sure if you ran down a list of other changes. We did stay on custom posts for a while and wasn't sure if there were other important changes we need to know about. But overall, was good.

Great presentations but I didn't get enough from Boone since he presented last and it was getting pretty late. It would have been nice if he started first but I learned something new again and can't wait for the next one. Thanks guys

Great meetup! This was my first time attending the meetup and I am really glad I went, despite the rain. I met some great developers, graphic designers and bloggers. I am looking forward to the next meetup, but for now I am going to put what I've leaned so far to good use.

    Thanks again!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
