American Shorts - Celebrating the Fourth!!

For those who don't want to spend all day with the family.

Wine, Words and Short Stories (a different angle and an easier approach to compare the themes we have been reading in American contemporary literature) and if you like, the United States Constitituion (you can get a copy on line - free).

This also gives you time to read the next two books on the list.

This should be fun and add a new splash for the group.

This may be a longer meeting and here's a hint on location: you could bring swimwear. Cocktails (including wine) and appetizers will be available.

Let's dive into a new series of ideas with a few short stories. Here's two for this event: "A Shower of Gold"by Donald Barthelme and "In Dreams Begin Responsibilities" by Dehmore Schwartz. Don't forget the Constitution as well.

    • “ In my view, this event did not go at all well. I signed up for the event weeks if not months in advance. I ordered the book from Amazon, read the selections (very odd), found the Constitution online, printed and read most of it. I drove from Fort Worth to the venue, only to find it closed. I had not been given a cell phone number, only the number of the non-existent venue, so had no way to make contact with the organizer. I drove back to Fort Worth, in the hundred plus degree heat, with my book and my copy of the Constitution. As I say, it did not go well. ”
