This group was started in 2010 and as we begin 2015 is morphing into a meet-up group that strives to promote socialization of those of us who work from home or in situations where you don't want to only socialize with those with whom you work, yet seek human interaction! Words from the founder: "After searching through MeetUp groups looking for one focused on professional folks who work from home and finding none, I decided to start this one."
While the group started with "work from home" types, it has now expanded to include professionals, small business owners, entrepreneurs, teleworkers, people new to the area, and those who just need away from the office, etc. yet miss the day to day people contact of a professional, yet social circle.
If you'd like to connect with other folks who work from home or expand you professional circle, join us at one of our gatherings. We meet a couple of times a month for lunch, dinner, happy hours, etc. The setting is mostly social, but I'm sure we'll continue to take advantage all the networking opportunities, as well!
A couple things:
1. This really is geared toward working professionals or those on sabbatical, vs. those who are actively job seeking or retired;
2. There is no dues (as of January, 2015), however, there is a fee to meet-up and there is a "chip in" link on our home page. If you ever want to help the organizers defray costs to keep this group going - feel free to "chip in" a contribution - to go to the overall meet-up fee. I also reserve the right to periodically ask folks who haven't donated, yet come to events to help defray the costs with a small donation.
3. People who sign up for events, yet "no show" on repeated occasions will be removed.
Finally, I'm also always open for suggestions for things to do - feel free to message me with ideas or use the "suggest a meet-up" function and set up for when you can host.
