It's been a while since we've met for lunch. I've set up a date and time; the location is TBD and open to suggestions! Now that the winds have subsided, someplace with an outdoor patio might be nice...
This group was started in 2010 by Shelley Lanier who moved off to DC, but left the group to a dedicated membership who sees the need to promote socialization of those of us who work from home, yet seek human interaction! Words from Shelley: After searching through MeetUp groups looking for one focused on professional folks who work from home and finding none, I decided to start this one.
It is aimed at professionals, small business owners, entrepreneurs, teleworkers, etc. who miss the day to day people contact of working in a regular office environment. (I know, that can sometimes be a bad thing, too!).
If you'd like to connect with other folks who work from home a couple of times a month for lunch, dinner, happy hours, etc., please consider joining. The setting will be mostly social, but I'm sure we'll take advantage all the networking opportunities, as well! I'll plan the first few events, but am very open to other ideas, so feel free to make suggestions!
Please note: As of August 19, 2014 - the group now charges a $10/per year dues. Upon joining, folks have 30 days to make the payment - otherwise you'll be removed from the group. We are always looking for co-organizers, so please contact me if you have time and interest in setting up a meet-up a month - that would help immensely.
Since I've had a few questions about this recently... A group called Coworking in Albuquerque does some cross-posting on the WFHE site - the groups are not the same, nor do you have to be a member of one to be a member of the other. Thus - the Unconventional Bookclub meetings are not organized, nor hosted by WFHE and if you have ideas for that meet-up, you will need to contact them directly. If you are mainly interested in co-working, the unconventional bookclub, etc - please join Co-working in Albuquerque.
