Welcome Busy Moms!

Working Mothers of Babies in Diapers is a new meetup group catering to those in the North Phoenix area. My idea is that this would generally be for mothers of babies born in 2008 or 2009 – hence the “babies in diapers” – though at some point we’d need to change the name. I’d like most meetups to be for mommies and babies, sometimes including daddies, and of course, the occasional Ladies Night Out. We could meet once or twice a month, depending on the desires of the group, typically on weekends.

A little bit about me… I’m 30 years old, been married for 5 years, and I’m the mother of a beautiful baby girl, Aubrey, born in January 2009. I’m originally from Texas, lived in Rhode Island for a couple years, and have lived in Phoenix since March 2007. I’ve worked in construction management for almost 8 years, so I spend most of my time around men.

Being a working mom has definitely presented new challenges that I was not prepared for – learning how to balance my career, my marriage, my daughter, myself, the house, the budget , extended family… the list keeps growing!

Have I chosen the right daycare? Are there benefits to having a nanny? Should we have a second child, and when? Then, there’s all the joys of being a mother, all the little milestones that your little one reaches. These are all the things I’d love to discuss and share, but I don’t quite have the right group of friends to do that with. Does the office manager at my work really care that Aubrey ate avocado for dinner last night and loved it?

I'd like our group to be low maintenance, casual fun, where we can meet new moms, have some "me" time, and enjoy watching our kids play together!

I live close to I-17 and the 101 and I’d like to keep most meetups within a 10 mile radius of the area (think Desert Ridge, Norterra, Arrowhead in Peoria). If anyone has an idea for our first meetup, please let me know!
