The group returns, and we'll visit one of our favorite restaurants, located in Flushing, Queens. As with Sichuan food, Hunan cuisine uses generous amounts of chili peppers, but it also features complex flavors and textures.
We will ALL eat family-style (i.e. *everything* shared). So, as always at our dinners at Chinese restaurants, please keep in mind, there will be NO individually-ordered "private" dishes at our table. We will split the cost of food (estimated $25 per person including tax and tip; drinks extra). If you have dietary restrictions, that may pose a significant problem -- please e-mail me if that's the case. I would generally encourage only adventurous eaters to RSVP.
The restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from the Flushing-Main Street station on the #7 subway line.
If you RSVP then I expect you to attend. No-shows will not be tolerated and will be removed from the group, and potentially blacklisted from other Meetup groups as well.
And obviously, you must RSVP in order to join us. That should be obvious, but I have to point it out, since occasionally a new person does not seem to understand the concept. 8-/
Dishes may include dried beef with white peppers, steamed eggplant with minced pork and egg yolk, tea-smoked duck, sliced dried tofu in chili oil, steamed pork belly with rice powder, pumpkin cakes, and maybe even fish heads. (These choices aren't set in stone yet, and we can collectively pick other tasty-looking things after we arrive.)
Additional note: Please bring CASH! Juggling credit cards is aggravating for organizers. Also, there is additional $1 fee per person to cover Meetup.com costs, etc.
