Re: [diningout-134] Escoffier dinner at Monkey Town

I have been to Monkey Town a few times. I love seeing films here!
This place use to have the most original deserts I had ever eaten but chefs change... The meals are good, world beat and if they have an event or film you would like to attend, I highly recommend.? A cool experience. At times, they are know to show, two complimentary films at the same time on opposite walls.
It costs a little more than less expensive ethnic fare, but as a I think its a good value as an overall experience. Just in case you are expecting a traditional dinning experience.... you will be eating sitting on a futon couch facing an open middle area and the film screens surround you.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the (awkwardly named) Williamsburg restaurant Monkey Town will be serving an Escoffier dinner, featuring a half-dozen dishes prepared to the recipes of the famed French chef. Dinner will be accompanied by a screening of Last Year in Marienbad, a 1961 film just re-released on DVD.

I can't vouch for this restaurant and won't be visiting this weekend, but even though this event costs somewhat more than our usual, I thought you'd like to know.
