PAKAW! -Greek popular all female group Fundraising concert for Greek charity KLIMAKA - Helping the homeless in Athens.

The all-female band that pushes the boundaries of the traditional!
With Greek music at its core these five international women excite with their sultry vocals and versatile musicianship.

We welcome them back to St Ethelburga's for this special concert  very close to their hearts. As we see the economic crisis is acutely affecting the people in Greece. They are making an attempt to help the situation by donating their time, music and fee for those in need there. The charity we have chosen to support with the proceeds from this concert is called Klimaka and they provide a wide range of services to homeless people including shelter, food, counseling and job search assistance. Please join us!

Katerina, Muzmee, Paressa, Olympia and Duygu met in the lively Rebetiko music
scene in London. The diversity of their musical backgrounds – from Classical to Latin American, from Byzantine Chant to Ska, from Turkish rhythms to Russian Polyphony -means they have an intoxicating range of colours and flavours to draw upon. What unites them in spirit is their love for Greek music and all the traditions and historical worlds it touches, from the Balkans to the Greek Islands, from the Black Sea to the mountains of Epirus.

As the only all female band with a Greek repertoire, PAKAW! turn heads before they play a note! PAKAW!’s performances radiate a unique energy, always capturing their vibrant audience, be it in London or the beautiful island of Mytilene. They have played in a range of venues all over London including the National Theatre and have toured to Istanbul and Athens with plans for Germany and Cyprus next! The group regularly invites guest musicians to join, adding excitement to the mix.

It says doors open 6.45 pm, music 7.30 pm, but also event info 8pm - 10.30 pm. Can you clarify the correct timings please?

Hi Clara and Alan and all. Mistake on my part. Originally it was a 8.00pm start with 7.15 door opening time because of an earlier event at St Ethelburga's. That got cancelled so we moved it back to usual time of 7.30 start and 6.45 door opening. I got confused and busy with other events and forgot we changed the time back to 7.30. Because of confusion, doors will need to open at 6.45 but concert will begin at 8.00pm. Apologies to all, entirely my fault.
