For our next gig at St Ethelburga's on July 9th

Adriano Adewale with special guests Marcelo Andrade & Johanthan Preiss

Exploring the work of 20th century Afro-Brazilian composer Pixinguinha [masked])

Part of City of London Festival

Adriano Adewale will be joined by two special guests: fellow Brazilian composer and multi instrumentalist, Marcelo Andrade and composer and guitarist, Jonathan Preiss (Caratinga).
Together they will perform a special concert exploring the work of 20th century Afro-Brazilian composer Pixinguinha [masked]). Living in Rio de Janeiro, Pixinguinhas compositions were mainly in a style known as Chorinho and he was one of the first composers to incorporate Jazz and Improvisation in Brazilian music. Chorinho has many similarities to Baroque music, but with a distinctly Brazilian rhythm and flavour.

Passionate, virtuoso, challenging, charming and fun, this concert will communicate the essence of Brazilian music.
Featuring Adriano Adewale (percussion/xylophone), Marcelo Andrade (Flutes and Sax) and Jonathan Preiss (7 string acoustic guitar).

a fabulous range of sounds and rhythms reminiscent of the great Airto Moreiras magic but with a personality of its own. The Herald, Edinburgh
