Meetup 79

Hi all,

How's the week treating you? Last Saturday we had a take-me-seriously session on Greek myths with a focus on the feminine. I deliberately chose three exercises (we normally do two) so that we would write more and speak less. We did have a few 'fun pieces' read out at the end, but the most fun piece belonged to Soumya. None of us could make either head or tail of it - even after she had explained it all to us.

The coffee after the session was fun too. Deep debates ensued on such momentous topics as Crime Master Gogo and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. One of our members unleashed a theory onto the world, one that he's sure would topple our understanding of the nature of reality itself. If you want to know what it is, I am afraid you must ask the people that were present. The person who formulated the theory is away for the next three weeks on business that he cannot skip.

Anyway, next week we're giving the hosting cap to Harshit. Not that he needs any more publicity than he already has, but in case you didn't know, he's the kingpin at bollymeaning.com. If you've ever searched for the meaning of a song or a title, chances are that you've hit upon his website, and chances are that his website has helped you out. He's been coming to Write Club quite regularly for the last couple of months, and when I asked him to host he said yes.

A warm welcome to all first-timers. Our brief is simple: if you have a free couple of hours on Saturday afternoon, come on over and join us. We'll sit down and write. Directions to the place are given at the top of this page, but if you get lost, my number is[masked] and my name is Sharath.

The best directions ever, with a hint of surreality. Now, if he's lost, he'll have to depend on himself. Though occasionally, we may tamper with the voices in your head! :)

The monologue exercise was damn good. :)

And we did like five round of reading. Everyone just read everything they have ever written in their lifetime. Everybody also made faces like they were listening. Sharath was made to look like a hero, which he is, until he is present in the scene. Good job Harshit! <I so totally want to be punny with his name, but... arrgggh social etiquettes> :)

Hey Sharath...I love ur introductions to each session. Even though I have hardly attended any, I read these. They're fun and accurate. You're doing a great job by keeping these meetups so regularly :)

Hey Sharath..last Sunday night I wrote a poem dedicated to all those wonderful people I got to meet, that includes you :)

    A LEARNER TILL THE END

To the best of the bravest I dedicate these lines
Forgive me, if I offend any unlikely minds

Never witnessed the courage of a dreamer in front of me
To unleash themselves, and find the best of talents they got for free

Today here I sit, amongst the greatest minds my memory would never rust upon
Every moment shared with them, more towards them as a fan I’m drawn

What I expected to be more like a gig with loosers
Turned out to be a chance for myself to be beside Bangalore’s best amusers

You are all complete, done with what life’s to show as your purpose
What’s left to find out, is that in the end none of you are less than an A plus

I was the one lost, thanks to you all to spark up this life in me once again
To be a part of this writers club till the end, as a learner with love, I would always remain
