Two hours writing at the comfortable and cosy Yumchaa in Camden Town, in the evening.
At the Camden Town sessions, we spend two hours writing at Yumchaa, and head to a pub up the road for a post-writing chat.
Yumchaa is a popular venue – especially with laptop users – so I've reserved a table with seating for 4 people. If you can't sit at our table, please stop by and say hello when you arrive. The host will help you find a seat.
IMPORTANT! Finding Yumchaa
Yumchaa is located on Parkway, in Camden town, in the old Palmers' Pet Store building.
If you're coming in from the Camden Town tube station, head up Parkway, past the Odeon and Jazz Cafe.
Yumchaa will be on the left after you cross the road, opposite Jamon Jamon and Runner's Need.
I will have a glowing Meetup sign at our table. But you are free to sit wherever you like.
1. What can I write?
Anything: novels, poems, theses, letters, songs, screenplays or computer code. It's two hours of writing: doesn't matter what. Making notes on a new project or editing a work-in-progress also count as writing.
2. What if I'm late?
Grab a seat and get writing. Punctuality isn't important, so long as you get writing.
3. Can I plug my laptop in?
Yumchaa do allow customers to use powerpoints for laptops. However, there are only a few sockets. If you need one, ask the host who'll point them out.
4. Do I have to sit with you?
Not if you don't want to. There are some comfortable sofas and armchairs you can use. But if it's your first time at this Meetup, please introduce yourself to the host, to help with the gathering of people for the social bit of the evening.
5. Where is the social?
We usually go to the Spread Eagle, about 100 metres past Yumchaa. It's a nice pub which serves decent food.
