Novel; short stories; travelogue. Not all at once!
"Where to today?" said Volky with its customary groan as Karen settled herself into its drivers seat. "Wycombe," said Karen. "Screw that," said Volky. "I ain't going there. It smells funny." "You're my car," said Karen. "You'll go where I want." "Like I said," said Volky, its dashboard rattling with malice. "SCREW THAT." Karen sighed. First her toaster refused to brown her wholemeal ("too many seeds" it whinged. "What d'ya think I am? A bird?"). Now Volky. This "Internet of Things" business was out of control. "Have it your way." She clicked open the door, extended a leg. "What'cha doin'?" snapped the car. Karen swung a high-heeled boot at the wing-mirror. It flapped shut with an almighty snap. The car made a sound like "ngh". "OK, we'll go to Wycombe." The engine started. "But you OWE me." Karen reversed out the driveway, turned the radio on. "XFM?" said the radio. "You can stick THAT where the sun don't shine." "For God’s sake," said Karen. "Is it going to be like this all day?"
I've been an off/on writer since childhood, some successes with published works. Currently work for the BBC (not doing writing though). Writing is a hobby at the moment, but like any aspiring writer/novelist, who knows...
