short story

Micro fiction: why did Karen hit the red Volkswagen?

It was that moment when everything seems blurred. Nothing makes sense and one can't even find the strength to analyse , like we're used to. Numbed , yet bruised ... she didn't see the red Volkswagen. She was thinking about how to get there on time, not at her husband, mother or child. She was lying on the pavement, realizing that she might die, and the only thing she wanted was to in her mothers lap. Her grandmother's laugh : Magdalena was cutting the clouds with a fence: - It's too cloudy today! Wake up Karen! You need to pick up Tara from school! I'm making rabbit stew today, but I'll save some for you, she said winking at the end. Her laugh again, healthy healing laugh. It was something minor. The Volkswagen's owner was fine. (He's car was not!) That day Karen cooked rabbit stew. She laughed. Her husband remembered that laugh... the laugh that got quieter with time.

Hi, I am an ex- Literature student with some left-over aspirations. This group seems a blessing for the ones that want to focus on writing.
