She didn't mean to. But it was parked right around the corner and by the time she rounded the turn it was too late to swerve. Besides, it would've been dangerous rushing into oncoming traffic. So instead, she braked. Karen took one deep breath. Then another. A third one felt good right now. She leaned forward and checked her front wheel. A serious dint on the front mud guard, now slightly bent. No mark on the Volkswagen, not even a scratch. Karen took another deep breath, got her legs in order and pedalled on.
