Join your fellow writers to experience the adventures of writing. All types of work welcome, whether fiction, screenwriting, screenplays, essays, poetry or memoirs. We do writing exercises to start off each meeting, and then move on to exploring and critiquing projects you may be working on. If you are having difficulty getting started or moving forward with a project, the exercises can often help to lubricate your pencil. The group is open to writers of all levels. Meetings generally run two hours. Enjoy spending time with writer friends!
What to bring:
Yourself, a writing implement and something to write on! There are no rules in that regard. We usually do a few short timed writing exercises and if someone wishes to share their work we're thrilled.
Before attending a meeting, we urge you to review the tips on receiving and giving feedback. Go to the horizontal navigation bar above, click on MORE, then click on FILES. Scroll down until you see the file named "The Art of Receiving and Giving Feedback." Click on the file to open it.
FILES is also where members post their writing for feedback.
We do ask for a $10.00 annual contribution to help cover the costs charged by Meetup. You can bring it to a meeting.
Please note: Our 2014 summer schedule has kicked in and our location is subject to change.
In the Fall, meetings go back to 229 Washington St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. If you discover the door at 229 Washington St is accidentally locked, please call (518) 583-0523. We're looking for alternate meeting space and co-coordinator. Meeting size is 6-8 people on average. If you have a space you can volunteer some or all of the time, please let Sarah know.
