If you are planning to eat, please come earlier than 6:30 so our time can be focused on our writing endeavors.
We begin at 6:30 with a 30 minute mini-lesson on writing and then every member brings about 1000 words (5 handwritten pages) to read aloud for critique.
We do not make or share copies of our written works; we have discovered that by hearing the story aloud, we grasp it more readily and are better able to help the writer with our comments on the language of the piece, rather than focusing in on the grammar and mechanics of the document.
We have been together since 2004 and several of us are published - either traditional, self, small press, blog, newspapers, or not at all. Come knowing what you want out of the group, and chances are - you will find it!
We have a wide range of ages and are extremely varied in our personal beliefs, writing skills and choices of genre. We now are meeting in a public location, so there may be non-members who might overhear us. Please keep your writings acceptable to most crowds (no erotica, etc.)
We have a lower age limit (ninth grade in high school). No children under 15 with out prior permission from me (Evelyn).
I look forward to meeting you!
