The Spring is back, and so is the Yurt! Our Monday Tai Chi class resumes at the Yurt, 7-8:30 pm.
Class runs from 7-8:30pm. From 8:30 until 9pm we will offer an additional half-hour of practice and instruction for those that would like to and are able to stay.
Our approach to Tai Chi is based on the Taoist philosophy of doing through not-doing (Wuwei). The introductory form that we teach is based on the traditional Chen Xiaojia (small-frame) lineage, but is shorter and easier to learn while retaining the essence of Tai Chi. Once having completed this form, students may then graduate on to one of the traditional bare-hand or weapons Tai Chi forms. We use partner exercises to deepen sensitivity and awareness, and eventually push hands and martial arts applications are taught.
Tai Chi can be applied to everything in life. In class, applications to martial arts, healing, meditation, and Hatha Yoga are included. We also encourage students to find ways to integrate Tai Chi and Taoist philosophy into their daily lives.
Suggested contribution: $12-20/class
