Y12SR is a sober activity and resource that combines the wisdom of yoga philosophy in conjunction with the practical tools of 12-step programs. It's guided by it’s theme ‘The Issues Live In the Tissues”, and is modeled from meetings of 12-step programs. See www.y12sr.com website to see where it all started. (Meetings are hosted every 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, starting at 5pm)
Y12SR meetings are for anyone dealing with their own addictive behaviors or affected by those behaviors in others. This is a open and inclusive group. All A’s are welcome.
The meetings integrate yoga principles for those who desire ways to "be" in the moment and work towards becoming comfortable in their own mind, body, spirit, those who desire serenity, those who desire alternative ways to practice calming the brain's nervous system, and those who are interested in reconditioning muscle memory through dual action and repetition.
Format: A short talk or "chairing" by the "space holder" of Y12SR format and group rules (5-10 minutes), followed by an introduction of a daily meditation from "Meditations Off the Mat" to prompt an open discussion on how the daily meditation relates to him/her in their own recovery process (30-50 minute), followed by a gently and intentionally themed yoga practice (60 min).
Total allocated time will depend on the number of people who attend and the amount of discussions that takes place during the first half: 60-120 minutes.
Suggested Donation: $10. No one turned away for lack of funds. Green cards can be signed by space holder.
