*Y12SR* <br>Yoga of 12 Step Recovery is a globally expanding nonprofit organization and we are lucky enough to have just started our first meeting here in our community. Our mission as an organization is to empower the lives of individuals and families affected by addiction, both substance and behavioral, with relapse prevention practices that enhance physical, mental and spiritual well-being. By using a holistic approach that addresses all aspects of the multi-dimensional self (physical, emotional, mental, behavior and heart,) we are able to promote a greater understanding of the disease of addiction, and provide peer generated support and leadership development.
We are support group available to those who are “infected” or “affected” by addiction. Our program couples the ancient healing wisdom of yoga with the foundational twelve steps of recovery. We are welcome to ALL recovery programs, including but not limited to NA, OA, AA, FA, GA, SA, EA, recovery support programs such as Adult child of an addict/alcoholic, Alanon, Alateen and those recovering from behavioral addictions such as eating disorders and compulsive actions. Our meeting format consists of a recovery based topic discussion followed by a healing theme based yoga practice.
There are no fees, dues, or pledges to sign and all are welcome to attend both the meeting session and yoga class. Like all community support programs, we are nonprofit and fully self-supporting, so if able, a donation is always gladly accepted to help pay for Y12SR costs and bills (rent, class supplies, coffee, ect.). A portion of the donations is also donated to local recovery organizations, such as the Grand Rapids Red Project, which is our elected organization for this quarter. Beginners are very much welcome and all classes are designed for multilevel participants. Also, we have plenty of yoga mats, so there is no need to purchase one prior to coming!
