Does what he writes about the upcoming event reflect what you think?

it seems to be inline but it is an outside opinion of one of the attendees of yesterday's meetup

One major point, unless the main focus will be on linux I would suggest to change the group name to something like "computer info sessions" this will bring a bigger outreach of developers and technitions not concerned with linux (as this is the reason why this time was a limited audience)

This might actually be one of the topics of the next meeting, as well as the possibility of creating an official organization (most probably a non profit organization) and why might even accept donations or membership if there are some tasks that will need money (such as buying a domain name for a website, buying subscriptions to online libraries and software sources etc.)

I personally was doing a lot of research in the following areas (and I can contribute them, but of course other users will need to help me), 1) comparing language syntax and how they are implemented behind the scenes 2) database administration 3) getting to know all different falvors of unix and linux and all descends 4) security and hacking 4) operating systems and their implementation and apis 5) general latest and emerging technologies overview

Here is my proposal for the next meeting 1) discuss opening a shared library as I have posted in another comment, this should credentialing, and physical resources such as storage space and download bandwidth, 2) we can discuss a wiki on which we can collaborate, especially in subjects such as latest technologies or tips and tricks worked out for a specific technology, 3) we should discuss how future meetings will be held, and how we will reach out, and I would suggest that meetings should have a prepared speaker that should speak in a given subject (that might be voted upon, we have to discuss this as well), be it general subjects such as latest technologies, comparison between technologies (such as giving a comparison between many languages, so one will not have to learn all languages extra), or a specific technology in depth (such as database administration etc.), and there should be time for questions and answers as well as general discussions, (to be continued)

Of course opening a collaborative website will lead us back to the discussion of which technology and language to use, this will have to be discussed in detail and we will have to find some compromise (in affect there are today compilers that can compile c# into java and vice verse, also .net has today support for many languages such as J# [which I think is either similar to java or to JavaScript, some guys of you know this better] as well as phyton)

We might buy a subscription to many dominant sites, such as safari online library, and microsoft technet and others, and this single subscription will be held by the website which will be used as a proxy, or automatic transfer it to the site when needed

I think it would be a good idea to make a shared library, on which developers should be able to upload all technical ebooks that one have and share it.

This should include any type of resource, such as ebooks, video, audio, as well as links to great online resources

And don't forget about software and software keys, this is especially important as Microsoft is said to shut down technet downloads

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
