Introduction
My name is Barbara, and I was diagnosed yesterday. I am a retired recreation therapist, and now drive buses and enjoy painting. My kids are aged 24 and 21. my husband retired from his job today. My Mom is 91.
Do you have people who are especially helpful in your life?
I have a great network of friends at work, and a special few where I live. My family has always been my best support.
What are your talents, skills, aspirations?
I have worked in a nursing home setting for 30 years and am enjoying the freedom of retirement. I am an artist, and do some decorative painting for $$, and paint portraits, etc for fun. It would be nice if I could do that for a living....
Talk anything here - what you want others to know about the dx, how your life has changed, best advice, favorite subject, your personal goals:
I would like to stop this emotional rollercoaster and be able to seek support on a casual basis, preferably online for now.
Discuss your diagnosis if you like, or where you are in the process:
I will be having a mastectomy, but don't even have a date for surgery yet.
