TaiChi Chuan is an extremely effective Chinese martial art, but is probably best known today for its phenomenal health benefits. TaiChi's gentle, flowing motions are simple and natural, making the practice of TaiChi a safe and healthful exercise. The practice of TaiChi is very low impact making it a perfect discipline for both men and women of all ages. TaiChi practice involves intense concentration on your immediate activity with an emphasis on complete relaxation. This combination of the mind being focused on the body’s soft, fluid movements is one reason TaiChi is often referred to as "meditation in motion”.
TaiChi classes are offered on a drop-in basis and are open to all. The cost is $8 per person per class. The focus is primarily on the Yang Style Long Form, but is supplemented by study of QiGong. There is no testing or belt/sash program for TaiChi at Yi's.
