You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
The New York Younger Women's Task Force is a coalition of progressive younger women from the New York Metro Area working to
? provide a stronger voice in the policymaking process for women ages 18 to 39
? increase the impact of younger women activists through the articulation of, and collaboration on, a common agenda
? define and develop the next generation of the women's movement
Need
The majority of recognized leaders in the women's movement (and women leaders in other movements) are older women. Consequently, younger women's issues, abilities, perspectives, and organizations are often underrepresented or underutilized. While many younger women are actively working for change, the YWTF addresses our need to connect with each other.
Background
The New York Younger Women's Task Force (NY-YWTF) is part of a national Younger Women?s Task Force (YWTF), a project of the National Council of Women's Organizations (NCWO). NCWO is a nonpartisan, nonprofit umbrella organization of almost 200 groups that collectively represent over ten million women across the United States. Nearly one hundred younger women attended the first YWTF Meetup in Washington, DC in January 2005. From that Meetup we formed a regional task force for younger women in the New York Metro Area.
