This weekend I attended a teaching skills workshop for yoga teachers at Yoga Garden. It was helpful, illuminating, and each of us walked out a little more confident and clear.
Each student taught and received feedback from the group. We chose what we wanted to work on: Clear, concise language, mirroring, active vs passive instructions, tones of voice, etc. We practiced, and explored the impact we had had on the group.
This workshop was moderated by David Nelson, a master teacher who got together with a group of teachers in this way weekly for years. David has offered to share with our group some of things they learned, and some pitfalls we can avoid. He has also generously offered yoga studio space for us to hold our meetings!
This group is for yoga teachers and aspiring teachers who would enjoy refining their teaching and communication skills. It provides an opportunity for us to work on adjustments with each other and give feedback. Our purpose is not judge or criticize, but to provide insight and support so we can each learn and evolve into compassionate, effective yogi's.
Saturday, December 12th, 4-6PM is our first meet-up. Teachers of all forms, styles and methods of Yoga are welcome.
We will introduce ourselves, give an overview of the process and purpose of the group, discuss what each of us wants to learn and focus on.
In this group you will be in turns both a teacher, and a student. As students we share what the experience felt like with kind feedback. Read more
